I've worked for big companies, small companies, well-run companies, and poorly managed companies. I've worked in middle management, senior management, and eventually quit a good job to start my own company. I've had some notable successes, some embarrassing failures, won a bunch of awards, and made a ton of mistakes along the way.
Prior to founding my own company, I was a senior executive at EBSCO Industries, a large multinational corporation, with direct P&L responsibility for three manufacturing divisions and approximately 500 employees.
In 2002, I decided to go out on my own and start a publishing company called Cahaba Media Group. Over eighteen years, our team built the company from a three-person startup into an internationally known media business with an award-winning culture and dozens of publications. We reached readers in more than a hundred countries around the world.
A few years ago, I decided to start a new chapter and sold my company to a couple of local investors. Today, in addition to my consulting work, I am an active angel investor and have served on several non-profit boards including The Friends of Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Mitchell's Place, Birmingham-Southern College, Kid One Transport, and The Entrepreneur's Organization.
